Just out of curiosity, what kind of wood combos go well with a maple top? I've never built with a maple top before and have no idea. What are the charactoristics of its sound?

Thanks!

John

John,

I think this is more for a solid body electric?

Lance, DO you know the dimensions of this drop top, specifically the thickness?

Thanks Lance. I was hoping for thicker. I am building a small archtop instrument similar in size to a mandola but strung as a 12 string guitar with the nut at the 5th fret.

A Mandotar!

That incredible mando sound with instant guitar player fingerboard faminliarity. And maybe even a little more range.

Mahogany is always a nice choice.

Limba ain't half-bad either, I'm told. Gotta try that some day. Maybe my next guitar.
